Eclectic Contemplative

Driven by a need for a more reflective approach to existence, I am exploring contemplative thought from a variety of traditions, particularly Catholic and Buddhist, in an effort to find a practice that will enable me to access that "inner room" that is at once still and luminous.

Contemplative podcasts

I have discovered podcasts! Everything from the rosary (in Latin or English) to the saint of the day to Buddhist teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh from Deer Park Monastery, which is near where I live. I try especially to listen to "Pray as You Go" from a Jesuit site in Ireland, ten- to 12-minute reflections on the weekday readings of the Catholic Church, usually accompanied by music and commentary - a kind of guided lectio divina. When my mind runs dry of ideas but my soul needs refreshment, this is one of the things I can do.
